Can Journey be Turney in Cumberland Co., KY?

Here's the excerpt from a query posted at this site:

"I find 1803 a Nathaniel Turney and a Mathew Mayes in Overton Co TN....(was near the state line at that time), and in 1805 Nathaniel Turney is getting property in Cumberland Co KY. There is also a John Turney in early 1790s in Cumberland Co KY. I am trying to figure out who these Turneys are, and believe they are out of Pat. Co vA/Surry Co NC to TN in early 1800s."

I have a two page excerpt from a publication "History of Cumberland County", with the words 'Pioneer Genealogies' following the title. Starting at p 414 is a history of the Thurman family, and on page 416, the concluding sentence on the Thurman family is -

"Nathan Thurman was the second Ferryman at Neeleys Ferry - John Journey being the first, 1804."

The query excerpt from the Turney researcher -- which I find invaluable to Journey researchers -- reminded me of a recent alert from a Journey resaercher of the possibility that Journey can appear as Turney in KY.

My contention is that the both the Nathaniel and John who the Turney researcher seeks to place are not Turneys, but rather are Journeys. Nathanial and John Journey left KY and became pioneers of Illinois. A John Journey died in 1814 in defense of Hill's Fort in Illinois (War of 1812.)
