Cathy, here is what I found on the Internet about your James Knox Polk Thomas. He was born 12/12/1849 in Bedford Co., Tn. and died 12/3/1943 in Christian Co., Ky. He married Lydia Jane Kennedy 10/28/1869 in Caldwell Co., Ky. and they had 10 children. His father was William Robert Thomas, born 2/29/1820 in Va. and died 8/31/1889 in Caldwell Co., Ky. His mother was Mary Emaline Bates, born 1824 in Bradley Co., Tn. She died circa 1885 probably in Caldwell Co. They married circa 1844, probably in Bedford Co. and they had 9 children: Robert Wilson, Samuel Henry, William, Sarah Elizabeth, Benjamin Franklin, Stephen, Ephriam Newton, Martha Jane, and James K.P.. After Emaline died, William Robert married the widow of his cousin circa 1886 named Amanda Caroline Franklin Thomas in Caldwell Co. Alll of William and Emaline's children were born in Bedford Co. I dont know when William Robert moved his family from Bedford Co. to Caldwell Co., but it was sometime in the late 1860's.. Bob Eddings
