I found a branch of my forefathers left Virginia and settled in Christian County, Kentucky in the early 1800's. Their surname was Vass. Thomas Vass and his wife Mary brought their two children from Spotsylvania County, VA and settled in Hopkinsville and farmed the land and raised babies :-) Thomas Vass's Family, son of Philip Vincent Vass, Jr and Susannah Mead are buried in known graves in the Vass Cemetery in Christian County, KY. It's located south of Fairview, take Highway 115 south, turn right onto Hammack Lane, go about half mile, cemetery located on the left of road just right of Berry residence. <http://www.westernkyhistory.org/christian/cemetery/vasscem.html> I am active on the website findagrave.com and participate in locating and getting photographs of tombstones to document the locations of our forefathers graves. I have set up Memorial pages for Mary and Thomas Vass and some of their family nembers and have requested photos of the tombstones to be taken and posted on the web for all to see. I believe this is important work, to give back and make the way easier for the ones that will be coming along behind us looking for family. As yet I have not been contacted by a volunteer from the Hopkinsville area willing to go to the Vass Cemetery and take digital photos and put them on the findagrave website. So I'm coming to the county forum to ask for someone's help. There are 14 graves to my knowledge. Is there someone here willing to help? Thank you, AuntGail *Thomas Vass, son of Philip Vincent Vass, Jr and Susannah Mead, is buried in a known grave in Christian County, Kentucky! Notify Administrator about this message?
