Francis W. Buckner, Samuel Gordon 1800s

I'm curious about Francis W. Buckner (b.1810 VA) lived in Christian Co KY and married Sarah Gordon, dtr of SAMUEL GORDON and Sarah Moore.
My interest is kind of roundabout--like much family history research!

My husband is Francis Buckner Richerson III. We've wondered how the Buckner came into the family. Now I believe that in Caroline Co VA, the first Francis Buckner Richerson may have been named after his father's first cousin, Francis William Buckner, son of George Buckner.
(Meacham's History says Frank W. Buckner, born 1809 VA, son of Francis Buckner; but the family Bible records have Francis William Buckner, born July 1, 1810, son of George and Ann Madison Buckner. Ann was the dtr of Col. Wm. Saunders and Sarah Jones. )
Ann's much younger sister Susan Saunders md. Reuben Richerson, who named a son Francis Buckner Richerson.

Anyway, after tracking down the cousin, Francis W. Buckner, in Christian Co, in 1860, I was flabbergasted by the value of the property of his wife and mother-in law:

1860 Christian Co KY Household 467
Francis W. Buckner 50 $500 VA
Sarah A. 40 $50,000 $25,000 KY
Samuel 24 $2000 KY
William F. 17 KY
Henry C. 6 KY
Upshaw Buckner 2 KY
MARTHA GORDON 64 VA $127,380 $46,800

(By the way, Upshaw is an old family name in Caroline Co VA)

Household 470 is Katherine L.? Buckner 22
$36,000 $18,000 KY
Thomas W. Buckner 1

Since Francis has so little compared to his wife, mother-in-law, and older children, I'm guessing the wealth came from Samuel Gordon.

In 1830 Christian Co KY census, it appears that Samuel has one child:
1 male 30-40
1 female 10-15
1 female 30-40

in 1840 the household is so much larger--who are these people?
Samuel Gordon
1 m under 5
4 males 20-30
1 m 50-60
1 f 40-50

Francis W. Buckner has his own household in 1840 census:
2 m under 5
2 m 20-30
1 f under 5
1 f 15-20

1850
Samuel Gordon 60 $45,000 VA
Martha 55 VA
William M. 12 KY

I'd love to hear more about Samuel Gordon. I found entry #270 here with a description of a fight between a Samuel Gordon and Obadiah Woodson in 1825.

A gedcom on ancestry says Samuel Gordon married Martha MOORE. In 1830 census, Ben Moore, age 70-80, lives near Samuel Gordon.

This is just mainly curiosity for me, but I would like to hear more about Gordon and Buckner, if anyone knows their story.

Thanks
Phyllis Richerson
