My research shows that Newport had 5 schools operating prior to 1850. I also have the dates they began. The schools are: South Newport School opened in 1830, Beech Grove Academy in 1836, Cabot Street School in 1836,Corpus Christi Church School in 1848, and Newport Academy in 1849. I would like to know the schools that were teaching grades 6 and 7 in 1850. Also... where in Newport student graduation records would be stored. I'm searching for William (David) Sanders and his sister Mary Sanders. The Newport School records seem to be a last resort place where I can find them. Thanks.. Richard Saunders
