I am searching for information on my Tarvin ancestors in Northern Kentucky. My Gr Gr grandfather was Edmund H Tarvin, who married his first cousin-once-removed, Parthena H Tarvin on 12 Aug 1848. The family says they married in Alexandria, KY. My great-grandfather, Richard W Tarvin, was born 27 May, 1849, purportedly in Kenton Co. He was the oldest of three children, the only one to survive infancy. Although the family says he was born in Kenton Co, I think he was born near Carthage, Campbell Co. By 1854, Edmund H and his two younger sons Walter Scott and Edmond, had died. They are buried in the "Richard Tarvin" Cemetery in Tibbatts Crossroads, Campbell Co. My purpose at this time is to find out: 1. The middle names of Edmund H and Parthena H Tarvin 2. Where they were really married and lived. 3. The middle name of Richard W Tarvin. The family always said it was Whitney, but his obituary, submitted by his daugher, says Whitman. 4. The actual birthplace of Richard W Tarvin. 5. Church affiliation -- Richard's obit says he was affiliated with the United Brethren Church. Parthena's headstone has a symbol that indicates she could have been Methodist. 6. Churches that functioning in that area in 1848-1855, so I can write for info. Edmund and Parthena were descendants of the "Dunkard" preacher, George Tarvin, who came to KY in about 1794. I would appreciate any assistance you may be able to give me. This information is not available on the Tarvin Family Organization website, so I am hoping to be able to find it and post it for them. Feel free to pass on this email to anybody who is researching similar names, places, and times. Thank you. Frances Tarvin Walker Notify Administrator about this message?
