Sorry about the delay, we've been busy at the Historical Society with remodeling, but we were able to find some info for you.
The corner of Saratoga and Taylor is now the corner of Saratoga and Third in Newport.
We couldn't find any marriage record in Campbell County. You might try Kenton County, or across the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH
We found citizenship records for a William Hays, born in Ireland. It was granted Feb 23, 1852 and said that he had spent 5 years in the US and at least 1 year in KY.
In the 1840 Census in the City of Newport we found a Thomas Hays.
In the 1850 Census in the City of Newport we found a Jennet Hay, aged 50, with John age 20, Alexander age 16, William age14 and James age 10.
There is nothing listed for Hay or Hays in our family files which means we have had no inquiries on that name nor any recent (about 10 years)obits with that name.
We checked records of Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate KY. A large protestant and non-denominational cemetery in this area. There were no burials for any Thomas or William.
We checked what death records we have and found:
Judy Hays-aged 35, d 7-7-1855, married, born in Ireland, died in Newport, KY, Parents, Malick & Margaret Bennon.
Samuel Hays-aged 53, d 8-18-1853, born in Ireland, died in Newport, Ky, parents, Thomas & Jennett Hays.
Thanks for your query, we'll put it in our Hays family files for future reference in case someone in the future is looking for your family.
Martha and Jerry
