Anyone researching this family? Who are the parents of Thomas Hugh Wood?
Thomas Hugh WOOD born 1818, KY, died between Apr 1864 and Dec 1866, Missouri,probably Jasper Co. He married Frances/is NICHOLS July 17, 1838 in Calloway Co, KY. She was born 1822 in TN and died August 18, 1889 in Licking,
Sherrill Twp, Texas County, MO. They had the following children, 1-10 in
birth order:
1. Elizabeth WOOD female born 1839, 1840 census in Calloway Co, MO -- that's all I have on her
2. Nancy J. WOOD, born Oct 1843 Marshall Co (formerly Calloway Co) KY; died 1907 in Dexter, Stoddard Co, MO - She is in the following Censi: 1880
with Justin A. DRAKE, Ozark Twp, Texas Co, MO; 1860 Jasper Co, MO with parents and siblings; 1870 with Justin A. DRAKE, Salem Twp, ent Co, MO; 1900 with Nathan A. JETMORE, Ripley Co, MO
*First marriage Mr. HAGGARDY after 1860 census for Jasper Co, MO and before December 1866 -- we have assumed she was a civil war widow; no children that we know of.
*Second marriage Justin A. (Augustus) DRAKE (my line) born August 2, 1821 NY, died before March 30, 1890 MO. They were married July 31, 1869 Perry Co, IL - they had seven children; he was a widower with two children when they married.
*Third marriage to Nathan A. Jetmore (he was married total 7 or more times - Nancy was number 6 and he also remarried one of his other wives for number 7. We haven't found a divorce yet. No children.
3. William C. WOOD born 1845 Marshall Co, KY, married Martha F. [LNU]; they
resided in Johnson Co, IL December 27, 1866 and then in Jefferson Co, IL May 24, 1867. Have not been able to find William C. WOOD and wife Martha F. in any census. William is with parents and siblings in 1860 census Jasper Co, MO.
4. Hugh W. WOOD born 1847 Marshall Co(formerly Calloway Co), KY, died after June 15, 1880; married Ann McCANN November 20, 1867 in Jefferson Co, IL. Son Thomas WOOD born February 1870 IL. They resided in Johnson Co, IL
December 3, 1866, then in Jefferson Co, IL May 24, 1867. Found in 1870 census Jefferson Co, IL.
5. Susan C. WOOD born December 1849 Pope or Johnson County, IL, married Joseph B. HILL October 28, 1865 Johnson Co, IL. I only have one daughter so far Allis/Alice HILL born 1867 in IL.
6. John Wesley WOOD born 1851 in Pope or Johnson County, IL. In one of the censi, he was listed as a "Pill" salesman. That seems to support the census where brother Henry was a "druggist". Don't have anything else on him at
this point.
7. Thomas Levi WOOD born 1853 Pope or Johnson Co, IL. He was with his parents and siblings in 1860 census for Jasper Co, MO; then we think he is in 1870 census for Licking, Sherrill Twp, Texas Co, MO with an ANDERSON family. Have nothing else so far.
8. Rebecca Ann WOOD born December 31, 1854 in Pope Co, IL, died August 14,1925 Rolla, Phelps Co, MO, buried in Rolla City Cemetery. Married Charles William YOUNG June 4 or 9, 1871 in Sherrill Twp, Texas Co, MO. They had seven children. They were in several censi - 1880 for sure Sherrill Twp, Texas Co, MO, mother Frances Nichols WOOD with them.
9. Henry C. WOOD born February 1857 in Jasper Co, MO, died before 1920 MO, married Martha "Mattie" RENFROW December 18, 1879 West Plains, Howell Co, MO, divorced in 1890; second marriage to Florence Chapman YOUNG about 1904.
10. Mary E. WOOD born June 1860 Jasper Co, MO, died before November 10, 1869 assumed since she was not named in the probate settlement for the minor children of Thomas WOOD. She was in the 1860 census with parents and siblings Jasper Co, MO.
