ADAMS, John in Caldwell Co Ky 1840 census

Does anyone know who this John ADAMS aged between 30/40 on the 1840 Caldwell Co Ky federal census is?
I am looking for a John ADAMS b abt. 1802 Virginia, lived possibly Georgia, for sure lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Southern Illinois where he died about 1857-8, Saline or White County, Illinois. His widow, Ailsey Unknown b abt. 1813 Georgia was in 1860 White County Illinois for the census, was in Union County Illinois for the 1865 state census with all of her living, married, and unmarried children. She died before the 1870 Jackson County Illinois federal census as far as I can tell. Her living children resided in Jackson, Williamson and Gallatin Counties Illinois. She lost two sons during and just after the Civil War.If and I'm hoping this John ADAMS on the 1840 census is my John then it means that he was married before, and has two elder sons that I will have to find.
Thank you for any help you might be able to give. Kathleen
