This deed is from Alexander Stevenson and his wife, Elizabeth Gilmore Stevenson to Samuel Asher. The William Stevenson mentioned in property lines is the eldest son of Alexander and Elizabeth. Alexander & Elizabeth Stevenson are my ancestors. I don't have any further information on the Asher family but wanted to post this here to help other Caldwell Co., KY researchers. ---------------------------------- Caldwell Co., KY Deed Book B, page 139 This Indenture made this twentyeth day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifteen Between Alexander Stevenson of the County of Caldwell and State of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel Asher of the County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Alex Stevenson for and in consideration of the sum of Six hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell to the said Samuel Asher a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres lying in Caldwell County on the waters of Donaldson fork of Tradewater Beginning at a hickory near Wm Stevensons south East corner running thence West Eight pole to a black oak and ash on Wm Stevensons line, thence South fifty, West thirty one poles to a white oak, thence north thirty five West seventy six poles to a white oak thence north forty nine West one hundred and sixty four poles to a hickory corner of Wm Stevenson Junr thence south fifty five West one hundred and seventy poles with Wm Stevenson Junr line to two post oaks corner of said Williams land, thenceforth thirty five East two hundred and twelve poles to a white oak and elm thence north thirty five East one hundred and seventy poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the said tract of land be the same more or less with its appertenances to the said Samuel Asher and his heirs forever and the said Alex Stevenson do further covenant and agree with the said Samuel Asher that he will forever warrant and defend the aforesaid tract of land with its appertenances to the said Samuel Asher and his heirs forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written, signd seald and delivered in presence of us Francis M Caldwell Alexr Stevenson seal her Alexr B Davidson Elizabeth Stevenson seal mark Caldwell County Sct. As clerk of the County Court of said county I certify that the within Deed of conveyance from Alexander Stevenson and Elizabeth Stevenson his wife to Samuel Asher was on the 24th July 1815 acknowledged before me by the Alexr Stevenson to be his act and deed and on the 27th Septr following acknowledged by the said Elizabeth Stevenson his wife to be her act and deed (she the said Elizabeth having been examined separate and apart from her said husband relinquished her right of dower to the tract of land & premises mentioned and set forth in the within deed, of her own free and voluntary consent without threats or persuasions of her said husband) In Testimony that I have recorded the same together with this certificate I hereunto set my hand this 27th day of Septr 1815.
