I was born and raised in Kentucky and now live in Memphis, Tn. I got most of my information from Ancestry. I would be willing to let you see my tree there if you give me your email address.
I can't wait to get hold of that Breathitt marriage book.... I have found NO marriage contracts for Pattons except Granville in Floyd Co. married Polly Jones on 16 Dec. 1840.
I also found on line a written autobiography of Edward Sutton who claimed to be Granville Patton's nephew. This autobiography says Mattie Sutton married Granville when Charley Patton married Nancy Sutton.
Let me give you a rundown of my sources. Also, I just recently found out that back in Granville's day "Polly" was a common nickname for "Mary." Go figure.
Anyway here are some of them:
--Jackson Dock's mother is Mary Morris came from family tradition and from his belated birth certificate which was requested by my Aunt Ethel (his daughter). He was born Oct. 1857 in Breathitt.
--Andrew Patton, J.D.'s brother, was listed on death certificate as Mary Morris' son. Andrew was born in 1844 in Breathitt. However, I found a record of Floyd Co. births in Feb. 1857 for Andrew Jackson with Granville Patton and Mary Sutton listed as parents.
I can't wait to find that marriage book.
