Alanson W. Blackburn, son of Benjamin -- Are There Sources?

I am a descendant of John Kanada Blackburn (1834-1899), a son of Alanson W. Blackburn of Bracken County and Pendleton County, Kentucky, and a grandson of Benjamin Blackburn. I have seen birth dates and other information posted regarding Alanson Blackburn (for example, it is often reported that he was born November 1, 1805 in Bracken County, Ky.), his wife, Salena (King) Blackburn, and their 11 or more children, but I do not know, and cannot determine, where this information originally comes from. Because many of the birthdays and other information I have seen are date-specific, I assume some of this data comes from family Bibles or some other unofficial source, but I have not seen anyone listing any citations. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has access to such source documentation or can otherwise point me in the right direction. Your response and assistance is greatly appreciated.
