I am looking for someone with the surname Stapleton who might be old enough to remember my Grandpa John D "One eyed Smitty" Smith. He was supposed to have been raised by a Bruce Stapleton in the 1920's or 1930's. Bruce Stapleton lived in Ashland, Boyd County during this time. I have found census records that list Bruce Stapleton's .. A father and son. My granpa is not in the list as a boarder or lodger etc.

No one know's who my Granpa's mother and father are. I would love to get some information!
He was born Aug 2, 1906 Location Unknown. Died 3/31/1979 in Knott County Kentucky. I cannot locate him on Census records during those years either. He may have changed his name.... he was a State Represenative for Kentucky and was a member of the Republican Party. The political graveyard only list one Smith from the Knott/Perry area that could be him but I can't be sure.. the name was J.A. Smith.

My father told me that his dad traveled with around with a circus for awhile and was able to lie down and let cars run over him with getting hurt. Supposedly, he could eat fire as well.. and do other tricks learned through a circus.

Thanks In Advance!!
