Thanks for the information.

We found deeds involving Abel Griffith after 1800, and a will for Abel Griffith in 1815 at the Bourbon Co Courthouse. We found no deeds prior to 1800.

Does anyone have any source to show that there were 2 Abels? And their relationsip?

I looked at the Family Search website and someone there says that the younger Abel was the son of William Griffith from VA. The older Abel had a son William, but they lived in Chester Co PA. Could William have moved to VA?

Also, we find a Virginia Land Warrant to Abel Griffith in 1780. He paid 120 pounds for 300 acres in KY. The land was surveyed in 1784 and is on Hinkstons Branch of the Licking River. Could this have been the younger Abel (since he may have lived in VA)or would they have sold the warrants in Pennsylvania? An image of the land warrant can be seen at the State of KY Land Office website.

The Land Warrant was in Fayette Co at the time it was issued. Since we find no record of its later sale in Bourbon Co, might we find it in Fayette Co? We did not have time to visit the courthouse in Lexington.
