Hi,
I don't really know Evan Shelby, I certainly didn't know he had been hung...But the Kentucky Shelby's had a tendency to be 'hotheaded' :-)) [My husband descends from Isaac Shelby, 1st Gov of KY]

Evan was born 4 May 1858 in Stewart Co, TN. His parents were
Adolphus Washington Shelby and Amanda F Terry.

Adolphus' parents were Alfred Moore Shelby and Elvira Reed.
Orville Mort Shelby, b 29 Sept 1841, was also a son.

Dates are from tombstones in Ballard Co, KY:
Shelby Family Graveyard- Located 2.3 miles west on US 60 of Junction of US 60 & KY 473, Kevil, & 1 mile south of Junction US 60 & a gravel rd, ultimately leading to Pleasant Hill Methodist church, approximately 1/4 mile east of gravel road high atop a hill adjacent to the farms of B.H. Lowery & Trilby Robinson...From the files of the KY Hist. Soc, Frankfort, KY.

Judy
