Debbie, I have a great deal of information on this family, the proper spelling of whose name is Chilton. It is, however, popularly pronounced Shelton in that part of the state. I believe I can take them back to the 1600s. They settled first in Lancaster Co., Va. This branch moved from there to Culpeper Co., Va., also resided in Madison Co., Va., and settled first in Ky. in Woodford Co.
