Anderson Co. 1850 census - can anyone help (further) identify these Cox folks?
Benjamin W. Cox, age 37, a farmer b. KY; his wife Martha A., age 31, b KY; and their son John Russell, age 8 and b KY and having attended school (family 239).
and next door
Russell Cox 73 VA - - - -
Rebecca 66 VA - - - 1
Russell Cox and Rebecca are the parents of Benjamin Willis who married Martha Ann Darland they had 5 at least children John Russell was one of them. George Washington is also Russell and Rebecca's son who I have listed as married to Emily Bond they had at least 5 children Benjamin Martain and Mary Ann are 2 of theirs. Benjamin Willis' second wife was Priscilla Rickman they had seven children.
I [jh] have also just found these daughters in the Anderson Co. marriage records:
James Green m Ann Cox f Russell 23 July 1839
James Lillard m Rebecca J Cox f Russell 1 Feb 1842
William Cox, probably, appears in the 1850 census for Anderson County, Kentucky, enumerated on the 24th of September 1850 by James M. Brayer. He is 21 and working on the farm of Henry Wilson; family and dwelling 421. He is shown as a farmer, born in Kentucky. [Henry Wilson is 42, his wife, Maria, is 30, and they have three children: John, 7; Imsonan(?), 3; and William B, 1. ]
Other Cox Families in Anderson Co. in 1850 include:
George W. Cox, age 39, b KY; his wife, Dorsily(?), age 33, b KY; and two children, Benjamin,9, and Mary Ann, age 5 (family 474).
James Cox, listed as an individual on the large farm of Thomas Sellers; James is 27, b KY and a Wheat Fanmaker (family 301).
James Cox, listed as an individual on the farm of Fredrick Junod, age 55 and from Switzerland. This James is 21, listed as a farmer and b in North Carolina. He is shown as unable to read or write (family 385).
James Cox, 1850 age 21, NC is probably the same James Cox listed with the William and Mildred Cox family in the same county. All members were from NC. Enumerated twice on different days, at work and at home. Can anyone check the dates of enumeration to verify.
Nathaniel H. Cox, age 30, a farmer b KY; Felicia, 23, b KY; and their son William B., age 1 and b KY (family 414).
