WhatI have on Edward S. was that he was a pvt. in Capt. Samuel Combs's Company Ky. Militia. enlisted in Madison County (I have the Adjutant Report with dates ect.). There is also a Moses Sherwood in this comany as well, and I assume they were brothers. Anyway, Edward moved to what is now Anderson County after his military service, but Moses did not.
Let me now take a few to explain my interest in these men. I'm presently working on an Anderson County project to identify & Index the "Old Soldiers" of Anderson County. I hope this research will become a reference source and will benefit anyone researching any Anderson Family. This project is broken down into 2 Volumes.
Volume #1 "Untitled" will cover the time between the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 and includes some old names I've found from the "Cornstalk Militia" who served during the Indian wars of 1780-1811.
Volume #2 also unknamed. Continues with the Mexican War through World War I. included the Civil War, post war militias, Spanish American War and other records I've found in bewtween.
Each entry will contain the individual, service record, and connection to Anderson County(when he came here, where he lived in the county, ect.)
If you have any other relative or any other notes that pertain to this project, that should be included, please submit the nescessary info.
PS I have Sherwood marriages in my family 1 John Sherwood married Mary Sale, she was a sister to my line. Also a Shrewood married a Hyatt My mother's family.
