You may find more information about your Kvåle (Quale) family on the web site from the Univ. of Bergen, http://www.hist.uib.no.
The site is also in English if you click on the US flag. Are you familiar with the naming practices in Norway? Also if you haven't visited the Norway site on Rootsweb you might take a look. There is also a Norway-L forum where you can learn lots about Norway. Your Grandmother's name was probably Ingeborg G (something) datter or Neilsdatter. Her father's name either started with a G or was Neil. Ingeborg was either born on the Kvåle farm or moved to the Kvåle farm. Dates of their birth would be helpful to you in your search.
