Dianna, it's not hard to get the Abrahams and Matthews confused. I have sent you via email a list of both Matthews of 1758 (not 1778). I did err in the marriage date of Matthew and Nancy. It should be 11 May 1780. Thanks for catching that.
Now the Abraham who died in Itawamba Co.MS in 1840 (15 June 1840)was born between 1780/1790 in Buncombe Co. NC. His wife is Elizabeth Menasco b.1807 TN died 1870 Hunt Co. TX. I cannot prove this connection with any concrete evidence other than I know who the others in Buncombe Co. are, BUT, based on census records in Buncombe Co. NC and the marriage of John Kuykendall b. 1754/1755 NC to Nancy Haggerty b. ca 1758
on 19 Jan 1779 in Lincoln Co. NC, the Abraham of the Itawamba Co. MS 1840 death is probably his son. There is also a son William Kuykendall b. 1790 wife Lucinda Springfield and a daughter, Jean Kuykendall b. ca 1782 who are siblings of Abraham and most likely also are children of John and Nancy. On the 1800 Buncombe Co. NC census, John and Nancy had one son born 1775/1784 (probably Abraham); 2 daughters b. 1775/1784 (1 is prob. Jean) 2 daughters b. 1784/1790; 1 son b. 1790/1800 (prob. William) and a daughter b. 1790/1800.
I wish we could found the other children. Don M. Kuykendall shared the information on Abraham and Elizabeth (Menasco)Kuykendall as well as William and Jean.
John was the son of Abraham and Elizabeth (surname unproven but found as Burleson or Jones) Kuykendall of Buncombe (now Henderson Co.) NC.
