Margaret Elpie Allen (Peggy) often visited my grandfather, when my family visited him at his Glendale California home.My grandfather, Daniel Lee Kutch, was a son of W. C. Kutch.Peggy was raised by W. C. Kutch and she in turn kept house for him in later years.W. C. died in 1925 in Jacksboro, TX.Daniel Lee Kutch moved his family from Collingsworth County, TX to Glendale California in 1923.I don't know when Peggy moved to California.(I was born in 1932.)We visited often from 1935 to 1946 and less often until about 1967.Grandpa died in 1946, but his unmarried daughter continued to live in his home. Peggy worked as a housekeeper in California. She never married. Her name can be found listed in William Kutch household in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 Jack County Texas Federal Census. However, they list her as Margaret E. Allen, Effie M. Allen, and Elsie Allen.
My mother Elpie Narcissus Kutch, was named after the same man whose initials were L. P.On page 40 of The History of Jack County by Thomas F. Horton,Miss Elpie Allen is mentioned in an article by W. C. Kutch.I have seen Peggy's father listed on the internet as J. Theopolis Allen.I was not aware of Peggy's siblings.None of the family who lived in California are living, except my yonger sister and possibly a cousin, from whom I haven't heard in a long time and could not locate him in phone listing search. That's not much information. But at least you now have some on Peggy.
