I am looking for the family of George Kuhns born about 1810/11 in PA, probably Somerset or Westmoreland Cos. Any spelling of the name: Kuhns, Kouns, Koontz, etc. George married Elizabeth BERKEY born 1810 PA, same possible counties for her family. They had: Matilda, Peter, Rebecca, Paul, and in the 1850 census, Daniel 11, John 9, Joseph 7, Samuel 6, William 2, Jonathan 6 months, Margaret Ann 9. They were in Somerset Co. in 1850 and in Ligonier, Westmoreland Co., PA in the 1870 census. We have a DNA match with George Kuhns and our ancestor Henry Koontz [sic] born about 1765 in PA, who married Susan (LNU) and resided in more than several counties in West Virginia: Monroe, Greenbrier, Kanawha and Nicholas. Henry died about 1821 in Nicholas County. Our ancestor Henry Koontz might have left PA before George Kuhns's parents moved to southwestern PA, say from Northampton Co., PA. It's great to have a DNA match, but we need to find out how we're connected. We have a research group, and would welcome all contributers. Thank you. Hope to hear from researchers of Kuhns, et cetera in PA.
