Hi Daniel

My mother is a Kuhl, although hers emigrated here in 1882. They were originally from Bernsdorf, Germany. The story goes that my great great grandmother was sent to Australia to meet up with her brothers who had emigrated here, she was pregnant when put on the boat with her sister, and had the child on arrival in Queensland. She married not long after the birth of my great grandfather and then went on to have 9 more children. My great grandfather also married into a german families, Lucht and Kann.

My great great great grandparents were Christian Kuhl and Margaret Carstens, I assume they were from Bernsdorf where my great great grandmother was born. I have not gone back any further, than my great great grandmother, as the records that I have access to don't appear to tell me very much.

regards

Tracey
