Deb, I have a list of Passenger and immigration of Germans to America 1875 to 1888. In it is Bertha Olga Kuechenmeister age 7 from Mecklenburg. She arrived in the USA 11/8/1884 on the ship named Austraila. Embarkation from Hamburg, Ger. Also in this list is a Asmus Kuechenmeister age 27 from Prussia, [which is the same area]he arrived here in the USA 10/9/1883. The name of his ship Hammonia. Embarkation, also Hamburg, Germ. I was wondering if this is The Bertha that you are looking for and her father. He could of came to the USA first, then sent for his family. My husband's grandmother's sister married a Kuechenmeister. Christian Kuechenmeister. He married a Catharina Stoffer, sister to my husband's grandmother. They settled in the midwest. Don't know if this is a connection, but thought it was worth a try. If you have a way of sending pictures e mail, I would love to see a picture of Bertha and Amos to see if there is any resemblance.
