Barbara E. Borchard

EDWARDSVILLE, Kan. — Barbara Ellen Borchard, 75, died Wednesday (Feb. 4,
2004) at home, after suffering from a lengthy illness.

A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Lutheran
Church in Manly, with the Rev. Randy Neilsen officiating.

Barbara Ellen Borchard was born June 8, 1928, in Duluth, Minn., to Garth
and Blanch (Moore) Veech. Barbara’s parents, along with her two brothers
and five sisters, moved to Mason City as a child.

It was at this time where she met her husband of 53 years, Dale F.
Borchard, and was united in marriage on June 23, 1946. This union produced
two children, Larry and Jeanne.

Barbara’s new family moved from Mason City to Oklahoma City, Okla., where
Barbara worked as a drug store technician for many years.

The family moved back to Mason City, then settled in the Kansas City
suburb of Edwardsville, Kan.

Barbara is survived by her son, Larry Borchard, of Edwardsville, Kan., and
her daughter, Jeanne Buhr and her husband, Roger, of Mason City;
grandchildren, Tim Buhr of Garner, and Tony Buhr of Kanawha; a brother,
David Veech and his wife, Rosemary, of Mason City; and many nieces and
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale, on Jan. 12,
2003; sisters, Laura, Irene, Edith, Harriet, and Ruth; and a brother,
Vernel.
