From The Blade, Buffalo, Wilson County, Kansas, Friday April 14, 1933, page 4: OBITUARY William H. Perkins, son of J. S. and Mary Perkins, was born January 8, 1861 in Ladoga county, Ind. Here he grew to manhood. He came with his parents to Kansas in 1881 and settled near Buffalo. On September 21, 1884, he was united in marriage to Emma F. Carley, and by this union were reared two children, Walter E. Perkins and Mrs. John L. Orr, both of Buffalo. Shortly after his marriage he moved to Montana with his family, where he resided several years. In 1904 he returned to Buffalo and was employed as engineer by the Buffalo Brick company. Due to an injury, his health began to fail, and he moved to the Orrland farm, where he spent his remaining years. Early in life he united with the Christian church, and was an active member for many years. He loved to express his devotion on his violin, and cheerfully rendered service to his Master in this way. Mr. Perkins was a past member of Buffalo lodge No. 379 A. F. & A. M. of Buffalo, and was also a member of the Maccabees at Basin, Mont. Uncle Bill, as he was affectionately known in his home community, will long be remembered for his hospitality, generosity, kind words and deeds. His home relations unfolded a wealth of affection, a tenderness not talked but felt and lived. He departed this life April 5, 1933, aged 72 years, 2 months and 27 days. He is survived by his wife, his son and daughter; one grandson, Glenn Perkins of Buffalo; a brother, R. F. Perkins of Azusa, Calif., besides other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the John L. Orr home Friday morning, April 7, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. O. Wilson of the Fredonia Christian church. Burial was in the Buffalo cemetery, where the Masons had charge of the services at the grave. Those who attended the funeral from out of town included: Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McWhirt, Dorothy McWhirt, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Geckler and Mr. and Mrs. Morris McIntosh, all of Independence; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Blume, Burris Blume and Hillard Blume, of Chanute; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Caldwell, of Fredonia; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Nordman and son, of Augusta. Notify Administrator about this message?
