Hi! Dave:
Yes, there is quite a bit of material about him. I have some items about him and also a lady by the name of Shirley Thompson. Dr. Ruggles's first wife was Sarah Elizabeth Teller. She was a sister to my grandmother, Grace Lille Teller Evans and the dau. of Henry Sexton Teller and Julia Ann Ford Teller of Keokuk County, Ia. There is a quite a bit of history about him during his earlier years as a Doctor who worked among the Modoc Indians in California and Oregon. He was also a traveler and an adventurer, spending time in Oregon, Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, and I believe Idaho. Dr. Charles Asbury Ruggles real name was Dr. James Asbury Ruggles. Why he changed his name, is unknown. For more info, I suggest you contact: Shirley Thompson e-mail address:
She could probably help you out on your search, as she has a lot of material, being she is a direct relative.
