If your great-grandfather was Charles Dillon, then you've got the right person.

Ira Chase's second wife was Frances Almeda Barrett, and they had a daughter named Almeda. All I know about Frances (and it's not documented) is that she was born Feb. 7, 1850, in NY State. Ira was born June 18, 1842, in Danville, ME, son of Jonathan and Susannah (Jordan-Dresser) Chase. I have lots of information on the Chase family. They are descended from Aquila Chase of Newbury, MA, about whom there is quite a bit (some of it incorrect) in this forum. Ira and Frances were married Jan. 24, 1869, in Central City, IA. They moved to Smith County, KS, in the summer of 1871. Their daughter Ida May was born three months later and is believed to be the first white girl born in Smith County.

Ira had a daughter Edna Maria (my great-grandmother) by his first wife, Emma Arris, and nine more children by Frances.

Daughter of Ira Chase and Emma Arris:
1. Edna Maria, born August 25, 1864, at Auburn, ME; died December 14, 1935, at Athol, KS; married December 14, 1881, in Athol, KS, to Charles Arthur Cowan. 5 children.

Children of Ira Chase and Frances Barrett:
2. Lydia Barrett, born April 15, 1870, at Wabeek, IA; died in August, 1939 or 1940 at Concordia, KS; married at Cedar, KS, to Alfred Stivers, born January 3, 1868, at Central City, MO, died February 9, 1936, at Gaylord, KS. 3 children.
3. Ida May, born September 21, 1871, at Cedar, KS; died in January 1903; married November 10, 1889, to Riley Edgar Anderson, born August 19, 1858, died October 9, 1946. 5 children.
4. Almeda, born July 23, 1873; married June 21, 1892, to Charles F. Dillon, born 1866, died 1952. 4 children.
5. Irvin Leroy, born January 7, 1876; died September 1943 or 1945; married July 18, 1900, to Maude Emma Newell, born March 3, 1879 at Gaylord, KS, died February 5, 1947, at Concordia, KS. 1 child.
6. Elva, born August 28, 1878; died December 22, 1922; married May 5, 1905, to Clarence Draper, born 1874, died 1953.
7. Leonard Ira, born January 2, 1880; died in a house fire on February 5, 1936; 1 son.
8. Milo Gove, born January 21, 1882; died December 11, 1891.
9. Guy F., born August 15, 1884; resided in Colorado; died March 10, 1956; married October 15, 1921, to Mary L. Prior, born 1872, died 1950.
10. Bessie Olive, born December 8, 1886; died November 29, 1891.
