Pretty sure your green eyes are descended from the blue...everyone before that had brown eyes.

5% to 10% of all children born in wedlock worldwide are fathered by someone other than the husband....according to social scientist. From my experience with track genealogy and the results of the DNA tests I've seen, the number is lower.

I've actually done more work on the Mallory side of my family . Interestly, there are two branches that came to America early.....the Mallorys of New Haven Ct and those of Virginia. The parents Peter Mallory of New Haven have never been proved; but, the southern branch claims all kinds of links to royalty and known lines in England. Except....DNA testing in England and within the two branches show the New England Mallory with the same DNA as those with proven lines in England and the Southern branch unrelated.

By the way, you are an Emery many times over. Cousins married cousins quite frequently in the early years of this county.

For example: Seth Emery's grandfather, Capt John Emery married his cousin Susannah Bartlett. Susannah was great grandaughter of Hannah Emery and Richard Bartlett. Susannah's mother was Lydia Hale, daughter of Ezekiel Hale and Ruth Emery. Ezekiel Hale was also a Brocklebank and Northend descendant. The original John Emery b in England and who came to America in 1635 was married to Agnes Northend. And, Cpt John Emery's mother was Sarah Brocklebank. John's father, Daniel, son of John, son of John, son of John....died when John was only two(24 Jan 1760) and a year later, Sarah Brocklebank Emery married John March.

Cpt John Emery (minuteman in Rev War) had Daniel Emery 1782 in newbury MA and then Lydia Hale Emery 1784 in Londonderry Vt, followed by John William Emery 1788 also in Londonderry...the others were born in Lyndon Vt....Josiah Bartlett Emery, Henrietta, Apphia Barlett, George Reid, and Samuel. All married except Samuel who died at age 22. Daniel married and remained in Lyndon Vt. All the rest married and have living issue.

I have a picture of Apphia and her husband,Harlow Bailey. Their sons became well off in the Ship and Dock building business in Ohio. Apphia was named after Susannah Bartlett's step-mother, Apphia Dole.

Lydia Hale Emery married Benjamin Smith and their grandson John George Croxton jr married Gertrude Bailey, Lydia's sister Apphia's granddaughter. John G Croxton Jr and Getrude Bailey had no children....they lived primarily in Philadelphia where he owned a shoe manufacturing business. Croxton Hall at Toledo Hospital was donated by Gertrude as a memorial to her husband.

By the way, I'm pretty certain, Dr George Reid Emery was named after a fellow minuteman that John may have served with....Gen George Reid was the most famous person in Londonderry at the time the Emerys lived there.

Lydia Hale's siblings were direct ancestors of John Steinbeck and George Plimpton.

Lydia Hale's husband, Josiah Bartlett (d 1802) was son of Cpt Richard Bartlett and Susannah Singletery. Her (Lydia Hale's) uncle Jonathan was Barack Obama's direct ancestor. (He moved to New Jersey and changed his name to Dunham)

Also, John Emery, the pioneer, was direct ancestor of Dick Cheney.

And, as I probably mentioned. Cpt John Emery and Susannah Bartlett were both cousins of Governor Josiah Bartlett of New Hamphsire...the second signer of the Declaration of Independence. And, they were second and first cousins repectively of the signer wife, Mary Bartlett, who was the signers first cousin by his uncle Jonathan Bartlett...brother to Stephen (signer father) and Capt Richard Bartlett who I mentioned above. Those three Bartlett were sons of Richard Bartlett and Hannah Emery....

Hannah being daughter of John Emery and Mary Sawyer...parents of John Emery who married Mehetable Short...parents of Daniel Emery, father of Capt John Emery.

Cpt Richard Bartlett and Hannah Emery...John Emery and Mehetable Short and John's father John, and Daniel Emery are buried in the Sawyer's Hill Cem Newburyport MA.

Cpt Richard Bartlett, Susannah Singletery, son Josiah Bartlett and wives Lydia Hale and Apphia Dole and Ezekiel Hale and Ruth Emery are all buried in the Walnut Hill Cem West Newbury MA.

John Emery the immigrant is buried in the First Settlers Cem in Newbury.

I get a laugh each time I think of him naming his daughter.. I have the exact time of her birth, "I have named the child Ebenezer, and Ebenezer SHE will be."
