Obituary for Emma S. Gilfillan from the Topeka State Journal, December 16, 1914: "Mrs. Emma S. Gilfillan, wife of the city food inspector, W. F. Gilfillan, died last night. She left her home early in the evening and was stricken with heart disease a few minutes afterward. She is survived by her husband and two children, Charles and Margaret. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made." A notice in the next day's paper indicates she was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery.
