Please advise me

MY mother was born August 18, 1902. I was told that she was born in Hubbard, Hill County, Texas, but there is absolutely no record in the city, nor county, nor in the various state libaries. My grandfather and grandmother were born in Lee County, Kentucky and eventually ended up in Texas. Since I could find no record I am suspicious that they might have traveled through Kansas on the way to Texas and maybe my mother might have been born in KS. My mother's name was Lela Phillips and my grandfather's name was Charlie (or Charley T.) Phillips. My grandmother was Mary (Horn) Phillips. I was told my grandfather was Indian, but my grandmother was white and of course my mother was half Indian. Please advise me how to check on birth records in Kansas for the year 1902 particularly August 18, 1902.The area of Kentucky where my grandparents came from was where a Shawnee Indian village was. Any suggestions on how I might search for birth records for my mother. I am seventy years old and would like to solve this mystery. Thank you.

Sincerely

Roger Warren
