There is an old saying - GIVE a man a fish, his family will be hungry the next day. TEACH a man to fish, he'll be able to feed them the rest of his life.

The same for women and counties. This site:

http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi

will tell you what county a town is today. Since county boundries change over time (All of Tennessee was just 3 counties, early on), you shouldn't take is as gospel, but it is a start. I have a $4.57 US road atlas with all 50 states and all the Canadian provinces, from Wal*Mart, next to my computer. It helps too.
