Can anyone tell me anything about info I found on the 1880 Census for Republic Co. Rose Creek Township. I am looking for info on the William Henry Shain family listed, his wife Julia is listed as "Keeping tent" alot of the others listed on this page are also listed as "keeping tent" rather than "keeping house". I am interested in what reason it would be tents rather than houses. It is rumored that William H. Shain was native american indian. Cound this mean that he is living in an indian village?
