You may be having trouble because the Bureau of Land Management (online) does not show any homestead/patent for any DICKS, BONEBRAKE, or MOLESWORTH in Ness Co., KS. I used Silvester & Sylvester, DICK & DICKS, and he didn't come up at all in any state. In fact, there are only four pages of DICKS that patented anywhere in the United States. It is possible that Sylvester filed but moved before receiving a patent. There are full homestead application papers and patents in the Washington National Records Center, but if the land did not get patented, you probably will not find them there, either. You need the legal description of the land.
