Mrs. Mary Jane Sharp, 81, 1018 S. Forest, died Thursday afternoon at 4:20 at the home of her son, Russell Sharp, 1520 S. Western. Ill the past six months, she had been in failing health for some time.
She was born Mary Jane Lyster, Feb. 8, 1864, at Edger, Ind., moving with her parents to Missouri, locating at Neosho, before coming to Kansas a few years later. They located at Longton, where she was married to William J. Sharp Feb. 8, 1882, moving to Chanute in December, 1899, living most of the time at 1018 S. Forest.
Mrs. Sharp was a member of the First Baptist church here.
Survivors are three sons, Claude of Fort Scott, Fred and Russell Sharp, Chanute; two sisters, Mrs. Libby Bates and Mrs. Julia Rambery of Chanute; and two brothers, Joe Lyster, Des Moines, Ia., and Alonzo Lyster of Benedict. Ten grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist church. The Rev. F. Lowell Cormack and the Rev. H. W. Hause will be in charge. Burial will be in Elmwood.
