What happened to Neosho Twp. of Neosho Co.?

I have ancestral relatives who were living in Neosho Township of Neosho Co. in the 1865 Kansas State census and in the 1870 US Census of Neosho Co. By 1880 there is no Neosho Township. Was it renamed as Tioga Township?

I suspect that is the case because a child of this family was reported to have been born in Chanute Sept. 1867, and in the 1870 census she is age 4 living in Neosho Twp., Neosho Co. By 1880 she is age 13 in Tioga Twp., Neosho Co. By 1886 she graduated from high school in Kellogg, Iowa.

Thanks for any help.
