Dear Larry Gilbert First Many Thanks for your great Cemetery work. I use it frequently. I too have a deep interest in Capioma. I have 3 generations buried there. First David Patterson Magill (his first wife Sally GRAGG) was my ancestor and not the second wife Elizabeth Roberts. Then SW of his gravesite is his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Robert RHEA. (He died at Fresno, CA in 1916) and lastly their daughter Melissa Jane (Rhea) and Richard BLODGET whose burials are next to the North fence. Concerning Magill's ~ I have the ancestry to 1645 at Oxenford, Caloway Co.Scotland. Currently working on the American cousins listing. The Platte County MO. LOG home before migrating to Capioma in 1854 STILL EXISTS. It was covered with tin and used as small barn ~ now falling down. Just lately I have been notified that UPS will be sending me his father's Bible published in 1805. We already have zeroxed the Birth, Death and Marrige pages. I intend to place it in the Nemaha County Museum at Seneca. Concerning Robert RHEA/RAY (an Irish family) He was one of the first policemen in the area. He attended the Lecompton meetings during statehood. I have the stories that were written about their migration and trials of settlement. Concerning BLODGET. His father Darrow B. (buried at Sabetha and mother Malinda (Snur(r) lived on the NE 1/4 at the Sabetha / 36 Junction ~ on the land where the rest area is now located. South, across 36, on the SE 1/4 lived the Robert Rhea family. From the marriage of Richard Blodget and Melissa Jane RHEA came only one child ~ Hattie Elizabeth Blodget who married WM KING and lived in Woodlawn. D.P. Magill's son Samuel, used to have annual Summer Events South of Woodlawn ~ being a family reunion and would last for days, being somewhat like an early type fair and camp meeting and would draw the community residents for the food, fun and conversations. I have a photo of Samuel Magill and Melissa and my Ggmother Hattie taken when she was under a year ~ thusly taken in 1874. If a Want AD ~ Notice were to be put into the Seneca Paper Desiring any photos taken at Sam Magill's Summer Events, I am sure you would obtain many Capioma residents pictures like mine, taken in the 1870's and perhaps up into 1900's For more information you may email me ~ wrightcroft@earthlink.net BEST WISHES Notify Administrator about this message?
