Woolsoncroft - Wolstencroft research

Abraham Woolsoncroft & Isabel (Pettitt)of Baileyville from Roberts (Ford Co)ILL. Abe's parents John Woolstoncroft and Elizabeth (Phillips) buried at Magnolia,Putnam Co. ILL
Eliz's parents (both born in England) John Phillips and wife Mary (Heywood) buried at Magnolia.

John was born in Manchester Eng. 05 Mar 1810 migrated
to America in 1831 and died 07 Apr 1895. He married
Elizabeth in 1838.

John's parents were John Wolstencroft and Mary Wood
They were married in the Manchester Cathedral in 1802.
He would have been born @ 1775 and there are about a
dozen John Wolstencrofts at that time and place. Have
not yet determined the correct one.

croft = a farm in old english
sten = a farm in old Swedish

Vikings raided the Mersey River Valley from Liverpool to
Manchester between 800-1000AD. There are Norsemen with the first name UV and Uvsten.

One of the earliest John W 's is at Bury in the 1500's
just North of Manchester.

English ancestrial names include:Phillips,Wood,Howfield, Heywood,Pettitt,Kenward,Alchorn,Smith,Susans,Stevens,
Errey,Vine,Webb,Gurnett,Lee
