I'm seeking additional information on our Hoel Smith(spouse Cathrena)who lived in Council Grove, KS and are buried in the Agnes Cemetery in Bushong(the cemetery is about 2 miles north of Rt 56). The family hails from Aurora, IL until the end of the Civil War at which time the family moved to Kansas. Hoel & Cathrena had several children:
Dave Smith
John H.Smith (MY LINE): b: 22 June 1843(Ill or Ind)
Alexander Smith
Jane Smith Berrisford
Mary Smith Patterson
George Smith
John H.Smith had the following children:
Albert B. Smith b:17 Nov 1870
Alexander Smith b:6 Jan 1865(in Aurora, IL)
George W. Smith
Viola Smith
Nora Smith
Stanton Smith
Benjamin Smith (MY LINE)
Orpha Smith
I believe Hoel's father was Collins Smith from information obtained from legal records in Fountain County, IND and Catherina's maiden name was "Helm", but would like to confirm it with additional sources. Catherina had a nephew living with her---a Charles Weaver(per census--farm hand). This suggests her maiden name was either Weaver OR she could have had a sister who married a Weaver. A picture of Hoel or Catharina would certainly be a bonus.
