From the Elk City Sun, Elk City, Kansas, June 18, 1948, p. 1: Death of Frederick G. Ford Frederick George Ford, father of Carl Ford of this city, passed away on June 12 at his home in Nowata, Okla. at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 29 days. His death was sudden, due to a stroke. Funeral services will held June 14th in the Benjamin Funeral Home in Nowata and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kans. Mr. Ford was born January 13, 1868 in Worth county, Mo. He lived in several states in early life and in 1889 was married in Elk county, Kans. to Ida M. Murphy. In 1906 they located south of Longton, Kans., where they lived until 1926 when they moved to Nowata county, Okla., where he spent the remainder of his life. He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Robert Earl of Kansas City, Kans.; Richard Carl of Elk City and Everett Ray, address unknown. Also one sister, Mrs. Mattie Davis of Mound Valley, Kans., six grandchildren, and a host of friends to mourn his passing. Mr. Ford was known to some of our citizens, having visited his son, Carl, here on several occasions.
