I went through a folder of marriage licenses and found this one.........

Groom:
George W. Nelson age 25 b.Madison Co, IND, parents Josiah Nelson and Elmira Denney (supposed to be Lamirah Denney).

Bride:
Louisa Stegall (may have been Eliza) age 24, b.Knox Co, IL, parents Nelson Stegall and Elizabeth Bowman. (Elizabeth Bowman was my gr gr grandma's sister).

Married in Abingdon, Knox Co, IL on 17 July, 1879.

Signed by them (I presume) 'George W. Nelson and Louisa Stegall'

On the front of the license it states her name as 'Miss Eliza J. Stegall'. So if her name was Eliza J., she must have gone by Louisa maybe.

In the 1880 census of Knox Co, Cedar Twp, IL. He was farming. Their ages are screwed up. He's listed as 23 and her as 27. His POB is also listed as IL instead of IND, but pretty sure it has to be them. By 1900, they're not listed in the IL census, so they've gone.

I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.
