George W. )1863 MO-1942 L.A.) had two children by his second wife, Minnie. They were Don and Grace. Don was born in Kansas and Grace was born in Vinita, Okla on 1902 when it was Indian Territory. Later this branch went to California. Are there any relatives who know why they went to Indian Territory? The rest of the family is white Cherokee. The reason people were leaving other states to go to Indian Territory was to enroll in the final Dawes Rolls in order to establish their Cherokee citizenship. Fort Scott Kansas was where the McDermot resided.
