Thank you Mr. Kerwin. You have been very helpful. I have requested my fathers records. I also visited the Liberal Kansas cemetary website and learned he was a sargeant in World WarII. The reason I am researching is because my father and mother were divorced when I was 7. I didn't hear from him again until I was 36. He came from Kansas to California to see me shortly before he died. He lost alot of his life to alcohol addiction but he gave alot of his life back through Alcoholics Anonymous. He tried to help others avoid making the same mistakes he had made. I guess I am healing enough now to dare to look into the past. I have always been scared to death of what I would find. But...you know what? It's not too bad. Infact alot of it is very good. I have alot of ancestors to be proud of. I guess it's about time someone paid tribute to a fallen man who learned how to stand again. Thanks for your help. I can hold my head up now when I say, "I am Sherian LaVaughn Surber."
