I'm trying to find the marriage info, for Elizabeth Avery (b. 1848, England, d. 1935, Portland, Oregon) married to Frederick Eggert (b. 1843 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, d. 1918, Portland, Oregon). Specifically, where were they married? I have a marriage date of Sep 1, 1873, but don't know where. I have a very interesting family story indicating they met on a train from Chicago to Oregon, probably 1871 or 1872. Census records show she was in Ohio in med school in 1870; he was in Lawrence, Kansas. Other, written accounts, show she was in Lawrence Kansas at sometime during or after 1871. They were living in Albany, Oregon in 1880. They later settled in Portland, Oregon. She was an MD in homeopathic medicine. He was in "dry goods"; ultimately in business in the Portland, Oregon area in the Eggert and Young Shoe Store. Despite the family lore story, I suspect they were married in Kansas, or possibly Chicago, then came to Oregon together. Frederick and Elizabeth had no children (that I am aware of), but were a very important influence on my mother's family. Elizabeth (Avery) Eggert was my grandmother's [Bessie (Avery) Hobson] aunt. Any info about this marriage will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jim Notify Administrator about this message?
