Hi Karen, Someplace along the line I've picked up the idea that Samuel, husband of Mary Ann Hittle, was a Jr. The possibility is supported by the 1840 census in Jackson Township, Rush County where the household of Samuel Kenton looks like: 1 male under 5 2 males 15-20 1 male 40-50 1 female under 5 1 female 30-40 This family seems to reappear again in "District 97" in 1850 with Samuel Kinton age 64 POB=Penn Eleanor 50 POB=Ohio Margaret E. 17 POB=Ind James 12 POB=Ind Mary 9 POB=Ind If this is "our" Samuel's father, my guess would be that Eleanor is probably not Samuel's mother. If I remember correctly, this Samuel did leave a probate record in Rush County. By the 1850 census it's easily seen that he did not move west with the Hittle entourage which evidently included Samuel and Mary Ann (Hittle) Kenton, as they are included in the census in Monroe County, Iowa. I'm not sure where I got the idea of this link from, but I'm not seeing anything that would necessarily refute the possibility of your Samuel being the son of this particular Samuel Kenton/Kinton. Of course, there's nothing here that specifically establishes it either. Of course, your mileage may vary on this one. Joe Notify Administrator about this message?
