What I am trying to learn please:
We have an Edgar Allen Newton in our family 1880 was in Wi. married by 1881 .. by 1885 our Edgar was in The Dakota Territory.
But since Edgar went by Ed Newton on his marriage lic. wonder if he is this Ed Nuton and it is spelt wrong. Not sure what the 1885 census date was for our edger Newton ( the way they had it spelt ) on Dakota Teritory census. It may of been in June of 1885 ..
So he may of been in KS. prior..
Is there anyway to see if this man is a Newton or Nuton?
or if there are any records on him, his wife and family.
His wife would of been Hattie or Harriet M. (Stanford) Newton.
He was listed on the 1885 KS. census as a Laborer..
This is one of two things that caught my eye. He worked for his father in Wi. as a laborer..
Also on the 1860 census where he first shows up he is listed as being born in MI. or Michigan..3.years old.
We are wondering if he wasn't born in Missouri and not Michigan because we have seen so many different places of his birth.
Also how our relative used his name. E. A. Newton Ed Newton, Edger Newton Edgar Allen Newton and we have even seen Edward. so confussing.
If anyone could locate him prior to 1885 maybe 1881-1886 to know if it is our relative or not ...I would really appreciate it..thank you
