Leavenworth County KS: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/counties/LV/

You could contact the library or historical society in Leavenworth County to see if they could help you out or....

The Kansas State Historical Society has early KS newspapers available through the interlibrary loan program.

As for a death certificate, if there is one it would be at the county level. The state didn't officially begin keeping records until 1911.

Good Luck!
