I am a volunteer living in WA State. I have never been to Kansas. However, that does not matter. My information comes from the internet.

I found the following:

1900 census - Valley Twp., Ellsworth KS, 18 June 1900, enumeration district 27, page 290

Peil, Christ, born Nov. 1849, age 50, married 25 yrs. born in GER as were his parents; arrived in the U.S. in 1868; naturalized citizen; farmer (owns farm)
Louisa, Aug. 1857, 42, 11 children with 7 living; born in PA and parents in GER
Henry, Feb. 1879, 21, IL
Lizzie, June 1887, 12, KS
Martha, Dec. 1888, 11, KS
Christ, Sep. 1889, 10, KS
Bertha, July 1892, 7, KS
(another dau., Minnie, born July 1879 in IL, was living in Barton Co. as a servant. -- I believe that Henry was born in 1878 and not 1879 -- see below 1880 info)
--------------
1880 census - St. Francis, Effingham Co. IL, page 369A
Christian Peel, 30, farmer, born in Prussia as were his parents
Louisa, 28, born in PA and parents in Hanover
Henry, 2, IL
Mina, 10/12, IL
-----------------
1910 census - Valley Twp., Ellsworth KS, 31 May 1910, Page 210, enum. dist. 32
Piel, Christ, 20, born KS, father in GER and mother in PA
Martha, sister, 23 "
Bertha, sister, 18, "
Louisa, mother, widow, 60, PA GER GER
--------
I have a feeling that the birth year for Louisa in the 1900 census is incorrect. She was 28 in 1880, 42 in 1900 and 60 in 1910.
-----------
In 1920 Chris Piel was 29 and living in Barton KS with his sister Martha, 32, and her husband Ed Ingersoll.
----------------
Hope this has helped.

Jean Hubler - volunteer
