This is a tough one. Looks like his parents died when he was very young.

I searched for Andy Hand in 1880. Found nothing. However, there was a James Hand with wife Amy in Jackson Co. IL. Same ages and places of parents birth. You can look that up on familysearch.org. They had 2 daughters. One might have been the mother of Lester.
