I am trying to identify the parents or siblings of John A. (Amos?) Smith, born June 13, 1843. My information says he was born in Washington Township, Dauphin County, PA. (Other documents indicate that he was born in 1849), He was a Civil War veteran, enrolling in Company A of the 1st Bat. Regiment of the 16th U.S. Inf., commanded by R.E.A. Crafton. He received an honorable discharge. He married Catharine Matter (born 22 July 1849) on Dec. 13, 1868 in Uniontown, PA at the Wilcox Hotel, the Rev. Schingle officiating. He resided in McAlisterville, PA; Wakeeny (Trego County), Kansas, Osborne City (Osborn County), KS ; and Toronto (Woodson County) Kansas. He died Oct. 11, 1899 and is burried in the Toronto Cemetery. His wife died July 23, 1922. I would love to share information with anyone connected to this couple.
